Annual Silent Auction

Donating Items to the Auction

The Pasto Agricultural Museum Silent Auction Committee invites you to donate items to its Annual Silent Auction.

Why donate an item? Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences has provided significant financial and personnel support for the establishment and growth of the Pasto Agricultural Museum. Also, the College's Alumni Society (CAAS) has established an endowment for the museum.

Modest financial support provided by income from this endowment fund helps pay for repair and restoration of donated items and part-time office assistance to help with inventory records, correspondence, and scheduling tours and guides. The museum has been and continues to be operated by a volunteer curator and a dedicated group of volunteer guides.

Now the museum's volunteers have been challenged to expand the endowment fund so that its income will cover most of the costs for the museum.

One fund-raising activity will be the Annual Silent Auction, to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 19-20, 2008, during Ag Progress Days.

Tips for donating an exciting auction package

An exciting auction package will generate more interest in your item and will help the museum raise more funds for the Pasto Agricultural Museum Endowment. Here are some tips to help you create the kind of package that buyers want to bid on.

  • Make your donation package unique. Unusual items such as antiques, memorabilia, and goods or services related to the agricultural/food production industry will generate more interest and discussion -- and higher bids.
  • Describe your item completely.
  • Remember to include any limitations on the package. People will be happier with the package if they already know the fine print.
When creating your auction package the keywords are:
Unique
Complete
Interesting
