2004 Volunteer Recognition Award

Jean Crider, his wife of fifty-seven years, holds a bouquet of fresh peonies. Darwin Braund, Volunteer Curator, holds the new plaque on which the names of all Volunteer Recognition Award recipients will be inscribed and which will hang permanently in the museum.

 

Involved with the Pasto Agricultural Museum from its beginning twenty-six years ago, Dr. Donald M. Crider was presented the 2004 Volunteer Recognition Award at the museum's annual meeting in May. He retired in 1992 as Professor Emeritus of Rural Sociology. In addition to serving as a guide, he was a valued counselor and source of museum history and was elected a charter member of the Advisory Board. He earned M.S. and Ph.D. degrees at Penn State in 1959 and 1969, respectively.

Dr. Crider has been involved with the Pasto Agricultural Museum essentially from its beginning twenty-six years ago. He's been active as a guide nearly every year. During the several planning meetings leading up to the formation of the Advisory Board and by-laws, he was a valued counselor and source of museum history. He devoted untold hours of work repairing miniature furniture donated to the museum. In addition he was elected as a charter member of the Advisory Board.
